my name is Alex and I’ve been driving a Nissan Leaf Accenta 30kwh for just over a year.
Last summer we travelled through England and Wales and had no problem charging at the fast charging places (mostly in service stations) and slower ones (carparks etc).
However, we couldn’t get our domestic charger to work. We had a plug converter – to change the 2 pin plug into the British 3 pin. We tried a couple of different converters, different houses and different sockets in those houses.
Does anybody know how to charge from an ordinary domestic socket in the UK?
Any tips gratefully received.
Chargers may not charge if there is no connection to ground. Compare these two plugs. In Holland we don’t have a third pin for ground. In Belgium they do.
So, depending on the converter it may fit but it won’t charge.
Grounding is a safety measure.
